In the context of our Physical Development Plan for Barbados, Urban Strategies developed an island-wide parks and open spaces plan aimed at protecting key environmental features, cultural heritage resources and recreational attractions. The plan includes a new National Park, occupying a fifth of the island; an extensive system of Natural Heritage Conservation Areas; numerous historic and recreational parks in both urban and rural areas; coastal beach parks; and local community parks.
