GUIDELINES FOR THE REURBANISATION OF METRO TORONTO
DATE 1990 - 1991
CLIENT Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto
We were retained to develop a policy framework that would guide redevelopment decisions over the next 20 years. We concluded that by encouraging a mix of uses, gradually increasing densities and improving public spaces around transit stations and along main streets, the Region could realize its objectives: shorten commuting distances, capitalize on underutilized land and curb urban sprawl. This evolutionary process of redevelopment involves more than simply intensifying land uses, and we termed it “reurbanisation”.
