Bowmanville’s downtown had recently been notably expanded through an Official Plan Amendment, and the Town required a development concept, design guidelines and Secondary Plan policies to guide growth. USI’s plan illustrates how the expansion can enhance the viability of the Town’s historic main street and integrate with the existing community. In 1998, the firm was retained to update the earlier Urban Design Guidelines, and to prepare new design concepts for the West Bowmanville Gateway Area.
