Significant growth in tourism and institutional expansion are threatening the quality of life in downtown Charleston. Urban Strategies® was retained to prepare a Downtown Plan that addresses these conflicts and establishes a framework to guide and control future development. Charleston City Council has adopted the Plan, and implementation has begun with the establishment of the Design Center, a body which will help to ensure that new projects adhere to the Plan’s principles.
