Around the time the world was turning the page to a new millennium, George Dark was turning a new page and starting his journey with Evergreen.

A memorable dinner with friend Leith Moore, Geoff Cape and other Evergreen Board members introduced George to the work of Evergreen. This quickly led to him joining the Board of Directors and, soon afterward, becoming Board Chair.

Initially drawn in by the magic of the school ground greening program, George was excited by the idea of growing an organization and to work with people who had real aspirations. Under George’s skilled and dedicated leadership, Evergreen has experienced tremendous growth, both as an organization and through the development and realization of Evergreen Brick Works.

In the words of CEO Geoff Cape, “George has been a powerful leader for 12 years at Evergreen—helping to guide the organization through a huge period of change and the quadrupling of our budgets. George has offered vision, courage, humour and ideas at every turn. We are a strong national organization today because of George Dark.” – Evergreen
