Urban planner and designer Christine Fang-Denissov, and planner Andrea Friedman, from the planning and design firm Urban Strategies are teaching a new graduate-level course on mixed-use development at Ryerson’s School of Urban and Regional Planning. Twenty-four students in “Emerging Trends and Design Strategies for Mixed-use Development” will analyze precedents from around the world, explore emerging practices and ideas related to different land use and development forms, and apply these ideas to a specific site in the Toronto region. The Ryerson City Building Institute (CBI) is collaborating with the instructors on course content and will also provide input on student projects. In addition, CBI will host an end-of-term open house and panel event to showcase the students’ work.
