As an urban planner with an interdisciplinary background in environmental studies, global health, and political science, Veronica Osei-Akoto Brown brings a unique and valuable perspective to the planning practice. Her research experience is rooted in environmental sustainability, environmental justice, and identifying and understanding climate hazards, and their impacts on the health and resilience of vulnerable populations.

Veronica has considerable experience in Environmental Assessment Planning review and permitting through her work with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. She additionally has extensive research experience in planning policy analysis as it pertains to affordable housing gained on projects such as StudentDwellTO. Veronica also played a key role in providing content and research support for the development of Ontario’s BRACE (Building Regional Adaptation Capacity and Expertise) training series designed to enhance planners’ capacity to understand and implement climate change adaptation strategies in their everyday planning practices. At Urban Strategies, Veronica is contributing to work on the Downsview Framework Plan, and planning approvals for 33-39 Davies Avenue and 86-100 Lombard Street in Toronto.
