Two of our firm’s partners are being honoured by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, Eric Turcotte and Michel Trocmé.
Fellowship is one of the highest honours the RAIC bestows, celebrating individuals for their achievements in areas such as research, scholarship, public service, or professional excellence in Canada or abroad.
Eric has over 27 years of experience in Canada, the United States and Europe. He has extensive redevelopment experience in sensitive urban areas in Canada – notably in Ottawa, the United States and Europe. He has played a leadership role in nationally and internationally significant projects, including the South Dockland Masterplan in Cork, Ireland, the University of Ottawa Master Plan and the Downtown Ottawa Urban Design Strategy 2020, Toronto’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Master Plan and the Eglinton Crosstown LRT project. He has also led the planning for numerous redevelopment and intensification projects at major commercial/retail sites, including the Dufferin Mall, CF Fairview and Sherway Gardens. Eric pursues innovative planning and urban design ideas, concepts and tools, and many of his projects have received national and international recognition and awards from the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP), the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) and other design and planning institutions. Eric is a founding member and past President of the Council for Canadian Urbanism (CanU), a member of the Waterfront Toronto Design Review Panel, the chair of the Brampton Design Review Panel Project, and a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Planners.
Michel has delivered a remarkable and diverse track record of transformative projects across Canada, the US, Europe and Asia, encompassing Urban Regeneration, New Communities, Waterfronts, Parks, Institutional Campuses and Research Parks over the last thirty years. Michel is currently involved in Toronto’s Downsview Master Plan, a 520-acre transformation of a former military and industrial site into a sustainable and inclusive new community. On the Toronto waterfront, he helped lead the Ookwemin Minising (Villiers Island) Precinct Plan, now under construction. Other recent projects include the Pəyalməx™/Iyálmexw Jericho Lands Community Plan in Vancouver and Age-Friendly Design Guidelines for the City of Markham. Internationally, Michel led the Bidadari Master Plan in Singapore, now fully built with 10,000 homes; the Nanyang Technological University Campus Plan; and the North-South Corridor Masterplan, also in Singapore. In the U.K., he played a key role in the redevelopment of London Docklands, including the Canada Water Master Plan and Silvertown Quays. In the U.S., he contributed to significant plans such as Brooklyn Bridge Park, Boston’s Fan Pier, Gateway Park in St. Louis, and Kendall Square Research Park in Cambridge.
Eric and Michel will be officially inducted to the RAIC College of Fellows May 6, 2026, at a convocation ceremony during the organization’s national conference in Vancouver, BC.
