Grant is an Urban Planner with a background in Social Work. His education focused on the relationship between social policy, urban design, and sustainability. Prior to joining Urban Strategies, Grant was a planner with the City of Thunder Bay where he worked on a wide range of projects from minor variances to a comprehensive official plan update and initiated and developed the public outreach and education component of the Planning Division. Grant has played a key role in a number of LPAT appeals, and has been qualified as an expert witness on multiple occasions. At Urban Strategies, Grant is involved in planning applications for intensification and infill, development feasibility studies, and LPAT appeals. Grant is a recognized proponent of sustainable and resilient policy, design and development. He has been published in Ontario Professional Planners Instituteās journal Y-Magazine, and served on the Board of Directors for EcoSuperior Environmental Programs in Thunder Bay.
