Josh Kohler is an urban planner with experience managing diverse projects, including complex
rezoning, official plan amendment and site plan approvals, local and regional community
engagement, transit station area planning, and infrastructure and public realm master planning.
This experience allows Josh to bring a strategic approach to navigating Toronto’s layered approval
processes, providing clear recommendations that allow land owner’s to realize the full potential
of their assets, while balancing competing priorities and finding solutions to achieve required
approvals. Josh is currently managing the development approvals for SickKids’ Patient Support
Centre at 175 Elizabeth Street, in conjunction with broader master planning for SickKids downtown
campus. Josh is also currently managing the development of a visionary 50 year master plan
for Simon Fraser University’s Burnaby Campus. Josh recently acted as the planning lead for
the successful rezoning and official plan amendment for Mirvish Village, which involves the
comprehensive redevelopment of Honest Ed’s store; retention of 24 heritage structures along
Markham, Bathurst and Lennox; five new residential towers; a new park; and diverse retail including
a public marketplace.
