Josh’s interests are rooted at the intersections of design, policy, mobility, and community. His diverse background in urban design, planning, architecture, sustainability, and engagement informs his deep investigations of place to build capacity for communities to influence their own environment. Previous work and research have led to an understanding of evolutionary resilience in cities through the informal systems that govern urban space, focusing on nature-based solutions, leveraging environmental factors for low-carbon development through passive design, and embedding flexibility in design to embrace change. At Urban Strategies, Josh is contributing to several mixed-use urban development projects in Greater Toronto and campus master planning at institutions across Canada.
