Michel’s urban design practice is recognized for making high quality environments which highlight a distinctive sense of place and foster a strong sense of community. Collaboratively integrating market, transportation, sustainability, landscape and architectural considerations, he develops visionary yet practical and implementable solutions which create value for both private and public sector clients.

Michel’s strategic approach has delivered a remarkable track record of built projects over thirty years of in Canada, the US, Europe and Asia including the Kendall Square Research Park (Cambridge); Fan Pier (Boston), Campus Martius (Detroit) St. Louis’s Downtown Plan, the Brooklyn Bridge Park (New York) the Alexandra Park Community Regeneration (Toronto) and the Oak Park Community (Oakville) Canada Water (London), Springfield Hospital (London) ExCeL Exhibition Centre and Estate (London). Further afield, many of his master plans for mixed-use communities in Singapore and Mainland China are currently being implemented.

Michel is a frequent speaker at conferences, regularly serves on design juries and has taught urban design studios at the Harvard Design School, The University of Toronto and York University. He is Vice-chair of the City of Markham’s Design Review Panel, serves on the Urban Land Institute’s Place Making Council and recently finished an eight-year appointment to the board of Artscape, Canada's leading practitioner in multi-tenant space development for the arts and culture sector.
