Yasmin is an award-winning urban planner and writer who works at the intersection of policy, urban design and community engagement. Bringing a values-driven approach to all her work, she believes deeply in a trauma-informed, context-driven approach rooted in histories and lived experiences, and strives to integrate storytelling, archival research, and alternative practices for social and economic development in support of community connection and well-being. In her six years of experience, Yasmin has contributed to over 30 studies and initiatives for a range of public and private sector clients, managing multidisciplinary teams focused on equitable revitalization, transit-oriented and sustainable development, and community-centred and inclusive planning and design processes. She recently completed a neighbourhood framework plan for equitable reinvestment and neighborhood stabilization for communities in east Detroit and is currently working on a visioning and master planning process for the Jane Finch Mall, a critical anchor and asset in the Jane-Finch/Black Creek community.
